Raffles Hotel Singapore Staycation – The Suite Life
The Food
Our daily breakfast was at Tiffin Room where an ala carte buffet was offered. Part of the menu was usually spread out as a self-service buffet. It must now be ordered with the restaurant staff, due to the Covid situation.
1st Breakfast Day
We were presented with a breadbasket and started with fruit juices, coffee and tea. We ordered Egg Benedicts with Smoked Salmon and Ham, Dimsum, a Cheese Platter and small portion of Chicken Porridge for my Mum. I had a Blueberry Muffin that came with the breadbasket and it was moist and delicious. We couldn’t eat anymore as the previous night’s dinner was still loitering around in our tummies.
2nd Breakfast Day
For the second breakfast day, we requested them not to serve us the breadbasket as we didn’t want to waste the breads especially if we weren’t eating them. For safety reasons, any uneaten breads must be thrown away. They do not allow guests to take them out of the restaurant.
We decided to go local that day and ordered Mee Goreng (twice!), Nasi Lemak, Dimsum and Fish Porridge. I had the Blueberry Muffin again as I enjoyed it very much the day before. The Mee Goreng had the wok hei and was very tasty though a little on the salty side. Mum tried the Char Siew Bao but preferred the Fish Porridge which she said was delicious. We saw some other guests ordering up a storm and running out of space at their tables. However much we wanted to try other dishes, our tummies protested, and we had to listen.
Singapore Sling
On the second night, we decided to have the complimentary Singapore Sling at the Grand Lobby. Our Singapore Sling looked different from what had been posted online. Ours looked more yellowish/orangy than pinkish. I’ve no idea if ours was “Original”. Maybe we’re not drinkers, but the drink tasted very
strong to us and soon our faces turned red. Guests have a choice to have the drinks at the Raffles Courtyard in the afternoon as well.
Free Ice Cream for Guests
On weekends, guests can claim a free scoop of ice cream from the Raffles Hotel Boutique between 12noon to 6pm.
There was no mention of this by the hotel staff and I only found out when I went to collect the free gift from the boutique just before we checked out. We got to taste Masala Ice cream and Mango Sorbet on our check-out day which fell on a Friday.
Restaurants at Raffles Hotel and Raffles Hotel Arcade
I’d done some research on the available food venues at Raffles Hotel (do note that not all restaurants/bars are open during Phase 2). I decided on 藝yì by Jereme Leung for their Dimsum lunch on check-in day and Butcher’s Block for Carte Blanche dinner on the second night. After a friend suggested, I also decided to try Burger & Lobster for dinner on the first night as they have a branch at Raffles Hotel Arcade (not part of Raffles Hotel restaurants).
