These are all my personal Japan lodging reviews based on the experiences I had at the time of my stays in Japan. It is likely your stay experience will differ from mine as my needs and requirements are different from yours. Also, some of my stays are awhile back. Please check online for more recent prices and reviews, and make your own decisions before you book.
So far there are Japan lodging reviews for 46 prefectures except for Kanagawa Prefecture where I had visited but not stayed a night yet.
How I review and rating the lodging
I moderate my expectations to suit the lodging category and price when reviewing them. Such as I don’t review a Economy Hotel with the same expectations of a Luxury Hotel or an inexpensive Ryokan with a fancy Ryokan stay. The lodging condition, the stay experience, the staff service and interactions, the food provided if any, the price I paid, all these go into how I rate the lodging.
That is why some low-cost simple lodgings can be as highly recommended as a nice expensive Ryokan stay. When you get the expectations right, there is less room for disappointment.
Please note that I do not have any opinions or views of places I’ve not stayed in Japan. Though if they are under the same Chain Hotel group, they should be of the same quality and standard. Please read Where to Stay, Ling? – Types of Japan Lodging to decide the type of lodging suited to your needs and budget.
