Raffles Hotel Singapore Staycation – The Suite Life

The Service

Reservations

I had some trouble trying to make the reservations online, so ended up making the reservations over the phone. Once that was done, an email was sent to me with information on the restaurants and links to make reservations including for the pool and gym usage. It was quite troublesome to make the bookings individually, so I sent them a list of dates and times, and they were able to make the reservations accordingly.

Check-in Service

Due to Covid-19 situation, Raffles Hotel implemented contactless check-in and check-out measures instead of their usual face to face service.

I was sent an email to do online check-in and send over our details and identification. The email didn’t state up front what was required, so I had to stop halfway to take photos of IDs and such. Thus, it wasn’t quite a quick and fuss free check-in.

Do note you would be required to place a S$300 deposit per night of stay. This would be used to offset any hotel food or gift spending. The final charge for expenses would be made to the credit card at check-out.

At Arrival

We arrived at Raffles Hotel Singapore by taxi and were shown into the Grand Lobby. Our luggage was also taken from us at this point. With the online check-in done prior to arrival, we didn’t need to do any paperwork on arrival. We sat at the Grand Lobby for about 30mins as it took awhile to get our room ready.

Our Raffles Hotel Ambassador was Jiyeon, from South Korea, who showed us to the room. Our luggage was already placed on the luggage stand when we got there. The humidifier, I requested before check-in, was set up in the room when we arrived.

Bed Turn Down Service

There is also a bed turn down service and I like the small touches they did, like putting a bottle of water and glass by the bed, and sharing some of the excerpts from authors who had stayed at Raffles Hotel and wrote about them in their books. (The bears are mine, not from the hotel)

Check-Out Service

The check-out service was quick and easy. I could easily view all the check-out information including any spending on the tablet. Jiyeon, our Raffles Hotel Ambassador, called me to confirm our spending was correct. She advised the final bill would be emailed to me (do check your junk mail in case it got routed there), and guests could stay in the room until the confirmed check out time.

Raffles Hotel’s service is good even after I’d checked out of the hotel. I’d requested for Jiyeon’s assistance with some information I wanted, and she even contacted me on her off day.

Areas for Improvements

Raffles Hotel Singapore StaycationThere are some minor areas for improvements. I was not informed to book the History Tour before arrival and was told it was fully booked for my stay dates when I enquired. We had to arrange for another day to return for the tour.

I also had to enquire about the free gift as Jiyeon forgotten to inform me on the collection process. She told me it was a bottle of Kaya which I had to collect personally from the Raffles Boutique. I requested the boutique staff to bring the gift to me at the entrance, as I didn’t want to perform the stSafeEntry checks to go in. I only realized they gave me a tin of Raffles Hotel House Blend tea leaves instead when I reached home. I’m guessing there’s a choice of gifts that guests could choose from. My Mum wished it was Kaya though as we would have more use for it.
