Where to Stay, Ling? – Types of Japan Lodging
Manga / Internet Cafés – Price per person averages JPY3,000 per night, hourly rates from JPY200
As name suggests, you can rent a cubicle and get a computer with internet access or unlimited manga to read. They offer hourly and daily rates and staying overnight is possible. Those that offer overnight stays have shower and toilet facilities. They usually have cheap meals available.
Do note the cubicle dividers are low and someone can easily peek over, so if privacy is a concern, it may not be suitable lodging. However, this is a good option if you have a couple of hours to kill before your flight and need a place to rest and take a shower.
Ling! I have not tried this option, so can’t share my personal experience. Here’s a good article to find out more about them.
Payment: Should be upfront when you’re checking in
Love Hotels – Price per room averages from JPY8,000 per night
These hotels usually offer hourly rates and clearly stated for adults only. Nowadays, some have started offering the rooms to tourists and they have certain rules for the stay. Rooms are Western style with ensuite bathroom.
Note: If you’re travelling with children, please don’t book these hotels.
Ling! Can’t tell you much about them as I’ve not stay in this hotel category. You can find out more about them here.
Payment: Not sure but think should be upfront when you’re checking in
